Supplies
Here's a list of tried-and-true puppy supplies. I suggest buying puppy supplies from Amazon—it’s usually cheaper than the box stores. Here are my recommendations and links to my favorite products:
Crate
I recommend a 42” crate for our standard goldendoodles (40-55 lbs) and a 24-36” crate for mini goldendoodles (15-20 lbs). You can buy a larger crate with a divider and adjust the space as your puppy grows.​​​​
Beds and Pads
For the first few months, you can line your puppy’s crate with a towel or blanket that’s easily washable (until no accidents). Once they’re potty trained, switch to a comfy bed.
While you do not need a bed right away, I do recommend getting a nice pad or elevated dog bed for training purposes. We regularly use pads or elevated beds for training and for helping the puppies identify their spaces. You might want a dog bed for the main area of your home to place the puppy during dinner or when guests come over.
Collar
I recommend a quick snap style collar for your puppy. Puppies can easily get themselves hung up on something, so this type of collar will unsnap quickly to prevent strangulation. Make sure to get a pet ID tag with your puppy’s name and your contact information.
Leash
You should have a couple of different lengths of leash, since you’ll use them for different purposes. I do not recommend getting a retractable style leash, since they are not ideal for training. Get a short standard leash for walking and longer leash can be used for training purposes and having your puppy tethered to you while still enjoying freedom.
Car Harness
Chances are your pup will go to and fro with you in the car, and you'll want the proper restraints to keep them safe.
Toys
My preferred toys are Kong brand or Nylabones. These are strong enough that puppies can’t chew off pieces of plastic that can become choking hazards. Here are a few of my go-to toys:
